Police Taser 61-Year-Old Blind Man
A 61-year-old blind man has been Tasered by police who mistook his white stick for a sword.
Colin Farmer was stunned by police following reports of a man walking through Chorley with a samurai sword.
Ch Supt Stuart Williams, of Lancashire Police, said the force had "deep regrets" and had "clearly put this man through a traumatic experience".
"It felt like I was grabbing an electricity pylon," he said.
Mr Farmer, who has suffered two strokes, said he thought he was being attacked by thugs.
Mr Farmer was taken to hospital for treatment and later discharged.
The case has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said the incident was being investigated and the officer's Taser had been withdrawn.

The Taser was used to suppress the man who is reported to have been also threatening to stab himself at the Royal Preston Hospital on Tuesday night. A 37-year-old man had been arrested on a public order offence and is to be questioned.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Man Dies After Police Taser Use
A man has died in Manchester after being shot by a Taser gun by police. According to the police, the 23-year-old man suffered "a medical episode" after he was shot with the Taser stun gun on Wednesday evening at around 8.15pm.

CPS Consider Criminal Charges For Officer Who Tasered Blind Man
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is reviewing a file passed to them from the IPCC about an incident in which a blind man was Tasered. 63-year-old Colin Farmer was Tasered by a police officer in Chorley on 12 October last year.
