King seeks leave to appeal child sex conviction
Broadcaster Jonathan King, who was jailed for seven years for sexually assaulting two boys during the 1980s, has made an application to the Criminal Cases Review Commission (CCRC) to review his case.
The CCRC will now consider whether the case should be processed through to the Court of Appeals.
If his application is granted, it will be the second time that King's case will have been heard by the Court of Appeal.
In January this year, the appeal court refused him permission to appeal against his conviction. He had argued that his sentence was "manifestly too severe", and that his convictions on six charges were too severe.
King, 58, was found guilty in September 2001 of four indecent assaults and two serious sexual assaults against two teenage boys.
