Fresh Snow Cause More Travel Disruption

Fresh snow across parts of the UK has caused further travel disruption.

Norwich airport is currently closed and trains between the city and Cambridge are running with delays after speed limits were imposed.

Yellow warnings advising the public to "be aware" of frozen conditions and hazardous roads in eastern England and south-east Scotland have been issued by the Met Office.

Forecasters said the cold spell would continue until Friday.

Man Questioned After Acid Left On Train

A 27-year-old man has been arrested after a bottle containing hydrochloric acid was left on a train.

The suspect was detained on suspicion of endangering railway safety.

Middlesbrough station was evacuated and closed after a passenger reported a burning smell on board a Northern Rail service to Darlington on Sunday evening.

The hazardous liquid had been left in a drinks bottle in the middle of the train.

Emergency services, including firefighters and an ambulance, were called to the station as a precaution due to the fumes from the highly corrosive substance, and the train was also evacuated.

British Transport Police released two CCTV images of a man officers wanted to trace, and a Middlesbrough man was later arrested.

Britain Shot Dead In Kenya Was Met Special PC

A British man who was killed in Kenya on Saturday was a special constable with the Metropolitan Police.

Jamal Moghe, 26, from Wembley, north-west London, also worked as a civilian employee of the Met based at Ealing in west London.

He is believed to have been killed by bandits while travelling on a charity trip.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has begun its prosecution of Thames Trains Limited for alleged breaches of health and safety law in connection with the Ladbroke Grove rail collision. HSE made public its intention to prosecute both Thames Trains Limited and Railtrack PLC (now Network Rail) in March 2002.
