Lib Dems Condemn Own MP For Holocaust Remarks

A Liberal Democrat MP has been criticised by his own party over language used in a statement about Israel's treatment of Palestinians, issued ahead of Holocaust Memorial Day.

On his website Mr Ward, representative for Bradford East, said he was committed to "honouring those who died during the Holocaust".

However, he goes to accuse "the Jews" in Israel of "inflicting atrocities on Palestinians... on a daily basis".

A party spokesman described the MP’s remarks as a matter of "deep regret".

And the BBC reported the Holocaust Educational Trust as describing them as "sickening and unacceptable".

Mr Ward has been summoned for a meeting with party officials on Monday.
