Second UK Case Of Coronavirus Confirmed
The second case of a new respiratory illness similar to the Sars virus has been identified in the UK.
In 2002 the Sars outbreak killed about 800 people worldwide.
The patient is in intensive care in a Manchester hospital. He recently travelled to the Middle East and Pakistan.
Prof John Watson, head of the respiratory diseases department at the Health Protection Agency (HPA), said: "The HPA is providing advice to healthcare workers to ensure the patient under investigation is being treated appropriately and that healthcare staff who are looking after the patient are protected. Contacts of the case are also being followed up to check on their health."
There are now 10 cases globally.

UK registers fifth suspected SARS case
A man who recently returned from a trip to Taiwan last month is in hospital isolation for what is suspected to be the UK's fifth case of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). The man, who returned to the UK from Taiwan on March 29, is described as being in a stable condition in Addenbrooke Hospital in Cambridge.

UK's first SARS case confirmed
The first case of SARS in the UK has today been confirmed by the Health Protection Agency (HPA). Following lab tests, the patient has been informed of their result, however no further details are available due to confidentiality reasons.

Confirmed Case Of Rabies In UK
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) yesterday confirmed a case of rabies in the UK. The potentially fatal disease was confirmed in a patient from London who was bitten by a dog in south Asia. The patient, whose age and gender were not given, is receiving hospital treatment and all relevant contacts have been followed up, the HPA said.
