Stephen Lawrence Drops Conviction Appeal
One of the two men jailed for the murder of Stephen Lawrence has given up his appeal against the conviction.
In January last year 37-year-old Gary Dobson was sentenced to life imprisonment for the racist murder of the teenager in Eltham, south-east London, in 1993.
The second man, 36-year-old David Norris, is to continue with his own appeal.
Dobson is serving a minimum of 15 years and two months and David Norris 14 years and three months.
A spokeswoman for the Judicial Office confirmed: "Gary Dobson has abandoned his renewed application to appeal his conviction for the murder of Stephen Lawrence.
"David Norris's renewed application seeking permission to appeal his conviction will be heard on a date to be fixed."

Hainey Murder Conviction Quashed
Kimberly Hainey, jailed for a minimum of 15 years for murdering her toddler son. has had her conviction overturned on appeal. The 38-year-old was convicted of the murder of her son Declan, mummified body was found was in his cot in March 2010 - eight months after he was last seen alive.

Coutts wins appeal against murder conviction
Musician Graham Coutts has won his appeal against his conviction for the murder of schoolteacher Jane Longhurst. 36 year old Coutts from Hove, East Sussex, was sentenced to life for strangling Miss Longhurst to with a pair of tights in March 2003. Five Law Lords said that the Jurors should have been offered murder and manslaughter verdicts.
