Divers Uncover Body Of Head Teacher

Scottish police divers have recovered a body at the end of a search for a head teacher who fell through ice into a loch near Kinross.

48-year-old Alan McKenzie, a teacher at Errol Primary school, fell through ice while sledging at Dow Loch on a day out with his family.

Police Scotland said a man's body was recovered at about 17:25 on Thursday, but the body has not been identified.

Man Arrested Over Spar Stabbing

A man has been arrested in relation to a double stabbing at a Spar convenience store in Birmingham.

The 18-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

He was held on Thursday evening at an address in the city.

Two men were involved in the incident. A 24-year-old is said to be in a critical condition, while a 21-year-old suffered an arm injury.

It is thought the stabbings followed an argument.

Man Treated For Smoke Inhalation

A man has been treated for smoke inhalation following a blaze at a flat in Glasgow.

The incident occurred as fire crews were called to Clarkston Road at about 20:00 on Thursday.

A block of tenement flats was evacuated as fire fighters tackled the blaze.

The elderly man was taken to the city's Southern General Hospital for treatment.

Residents returned to their homes shortly after 01:00 on Friday.

Girl Sentenced For Organising Stabbing

A 14-year-old girl has been sentenced to eight years after organising her boyfriend to stab another boy in a row over football.

Cherelle McKenzie has been sentenced for manslaughter after Junior Nkwelle, 15, was stabbed in the chest on a housing estate in Brixton, south London, last September. She will serve half her sentence in a young offenders institute.

Her boyfriend Marc Tulloch, 17, from Herne Hill, was given 10 years.

UK Troops Get Boost To Personal Protection
British troops fighting in the frontline are to receive new body armour and helmets this autumn, it has been announced. Over 10,000 sets of the enhanced Mark 7 helmet and the Osprey Assault body armour have been ordered from companies across the UK, under initial contracts worth around £16 million.

Police Identify Body Found In Forth
Police have confirmed that the body found in the Firth of Forth on Sunday is that of missing man Charles McLachlan. Mr McLachlan, 39, went missing from his home in West Lothian on June 10.

Police Recover Brazil Murder Body Parts
More body parts of a British teenager murdered in Brazil have been recovered, according to Brazilian police. Police have found the forearms and left leg of Cara Burke, 17, along the banks of a remote river near the central city of Goiania. Inspector Carlos Raimundo Batista said police were "confident" the body parts were the murdered teenagers.

Roscommon Murder - Man Questioned
Gardaí are continuing to question an 18-year-old man in connection with the murder of a man whose body was found in Co. Roscommon on Thursday. The body of Thomas Cunningham, 46, was found in the front garden of a house in Ballinlough on Thursday morning.
