NHS Mortuary Van Taken For Repair With Body Still Inside
An investigation has been launched and a member of staff suspended after it was discovered that an NHS Grampian mortuary van was taken to a garage with a dead body still inside.
It is understood the van had been taken for a tail light repair by a hospital porter who did not know there was a body on board.
An NHS Grampian spokesperson said: "This is a very serious incident and we are dealing with it as a matter of urgency.
"We have been in touch with the family of the deceased person and have apologised unreservedly."
Woman Creates Living Room In Garden In Council Protest
A woman has moved the contents of her living room into her front garden, in protest over an order to move an old armchair.
47-year-old Debbie Ballard put the chair in her Westcliff-on-Sea front yard and was saving up to have it removed.
Southend Borough Council gave her 14 days to remove the chair, saying they had received complaints.
"I set this up as a protest against the council which was all started by the armchair," said Ms Ballard.
BBC Proms Gets First Female Conductor In 118 Years
A female conductor will lead the BBC’s The Last Night of The Proms for the first time in its 118 year history.
American Marin Alsop said she was "thrilled" to conduct the BBC Symphony Orchestra and violinist Nigel Kennedy.
The festival, which begins on 12 July, includes 92 concerts at the Royal Albert Hall and four across the UK.

British troops have been sent to a town in Afghanistan where riots are continuing over the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. The troops were sent to an airfield in the northwestern town of Meymaneh, after a mob tried to storm a NATO peacekeeping base.

Man In Critical Condition Following Acid Attack
A man is in a critical condition in hospital after acid was thrown in his face in Cornwall. The attack happened in Carrine Road, Truro, on Tuesday 9 December. He is currently being treated at Treliske Hospital. Police are appealing to speak to the driver of a red Peugeot van seen in Carrine Road around the time of the incident.
