Funeral Service For Dog-Attack Girl
The funeral of Jade Anderson is to be held today in South Manchester the BBC has said.
The 14-year-old schoolgirl died last month after being savaged by four dogs while she visited a property in Atherton.
She was attacked by two Staffordshire bull terriers and two bull mastiff dogs at the house.
Friends and classmates of Jade's have raised several thousands of pounds since the attack to help her family pay for the funeral.
Shipping Containers To House Homeless
Dozens of homeless people in Brighton are to be offered accommodation in converted shipping containers.
A total of 36 self-contained studio units will be formed from shipping containers, and will be linked by external walkways and stairs, providing access to all levels of the resulting building.
They will be in three and five storey blocks, with balconies and external stairs to the upper levels.
Used as accommodation for the homeless, the scheme will be operated by the Brighton Housing Trust.
Planning permission has been granted for five years.
The site is currently used for open storage of scrap metal and off-street parking.
Glasgow's Gurdwara To Open This Weekend
Scotland's largest Sikh temple is to open this Sunday.
The purpose-built Gurdwara is based on a traditional Punjab temple and was constructed after the local community raised £3.8m to cover the cost.
It is set to be a new spiritual home for the country's 10,000-strong Sikh population. Around 2,000 are expected to attend the opening ceremony and procession on Sunday.
The building features a golden dome, library, computer room and worship room. The complex will also feature a community kitchen offering free meals every day.
The foundation stone for the building was laid in 2010 and work by Scottish firms CRGP and CBC began in February last year.
Man Admits Facebook Death Threats
A British man has admitted threatening to kill 200 American citizens over a series of messages posted on social networking site, Facebook.
According to Sky News, 24-year-old Reece Elliott posted the threat in February. It was made on a memorial page to a 17-year-old Tennessee girl who had been killed in a car crash.
Using a false name, Elliott wrote on the RIP Caitlin Talley page: "My father has three guns. I'm planning on killing him first and putting him in a dumpster. Then I'm taking the motor and I'm going in fast.
"I'm gonna kill hopefully at least 200 before I kill myself. So you want to tell the deputy, I'm on my way."
Following the messages and amid fears over school security following the Newtown shooting a few months previously, in which 20 children were shot dead, Warren County elementary school was closed for the day. Around 3,000 pupils missed school as a result of the posts.
Elliot pleaded guilty at Newcastle Crown Court and was remanded in custody. He will be sentences in June.
