Archers Actor Arnold Peters Dies Aged 87
Arnold Peters, an actor who play Jack Woolley in Radio 4 soap the Archers, has died at a care home in Northamptonshire aged 87.
Peters, who had Alzheimer's disease, joined the show as Jack in May 1980 and was last heard on air in July 2011.
A storyline which told of his character's Alzheimer's helped the show to win the Mental Health Media Award in 2007.
Rolls-Royce Sponsor 1,000mph Supercar Attempt
Rolls-Royce is to sponsor the British Bloodhound project, which seeks to drive a car beyond 1,000mph.
The aero-engine manufacturer will provide financial and technical support, with its major involvement being the overseeing of the supercar's EJ200 jet engine.
Bloodhound will use this engine, normally found in a Eurofighter-Typhoon, to raise its speed to about 350mph before igniting a rocket motor to take it supersonic, which aims to break the current land speed record of 763mph (1,228km/h) next year, and then push it beyond 1,000mph (1,610km/h) in 2015.
Former BBC DG Entwistle Takes Unpaid Charity Job
Former BBC director general George Entwistle has taken up an unpaid job with an arts charity, the Guradian has reported.
Entwistle resigned from the BBC post after just 54 days and at the height of the Jimmy Saville scandal, leaving with a £450,000 payout.
He has recently reappeared as an unpaid trustee at non-profit organisation the Public Catalogue Foundation.

Broadcaster Pledges Jimmy Savile Abuse Claims Examination
The BBC has promised a "comprehensive examination" into allegations that the late Sir Jimmy Savile sexually abused girls while working for the corporation. Director General George Entwistle said allegations will be investigated but not before a full police probe.
