Police Should Name Suspects If Asked By Media

The Home Secretary has said that, if asked by journalist, police officers should confirm the identity of suspects who have been arrested but not charged.

Previously, Theresa May, had said arrestees should not be named on arrest unless it was in the "public interest".

But, in an article for the Sun, Mrs May said: "Where the press has already identified the suspect... the police should confirm it."

Former IT Manager Compile Website Of Call Centre Menu Options

A retired IT manager has launched a website listing the call centre menu sequences for accessing thousands of services.

Nigel Clark, of Kent, started compiling the listing due to his frustration over the number of options and amount of recorded information on call centre menus, according to the BBC.

The website, pleasepress1.com, took seven years to compile via creating post-it notes of sequences he used regularly.

Former Adivser Drops Hacking Damages Claim

A former adviser to supermodel Elle Macpherson has dropped a damages claim against News Group Newspapers after “no evidence” of hacking was found.

Mary Ellen Field had sued the publisher of the defunct News of the World, saying that alleged phone hacking of Ms Macpherson's voicemails had caused their relationship to break down.

Teenager Arrested Over Rape Of 12-Year-Old Girl
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the rape of 12-year-old girl in east London. Three males lead the girl to a "secluded" end of a street in Walthamstow at around 00:15 on Saturday before two of them attacked her, held her down and raped her.

Walliams Settles Hacking Claim With NGN
David Walliams has reached an undisclosed settlement with News Group Newspapers (NGN) over phone-hacking allegations. Walliams had begun a legal chase after being told by the news group that it had been intercepting his voicemail since 2005. No details of the settlement have been released but the figure is said to be "substantial".

Eight Men Arrested Following Dawn Raids
Over 100 police officers have carried out a series of raids concerning child sexual exploitation offences in Oxford. Eight men were arrested following the raids at 6am this morning 2 June. Police are investigating approximately 60 offences in connection with the operation relating to female victims in Oxford between 1999 and 2007.

French Police Arrest Convicted On-The-Run Rapist
A 56-year-old convicted rapist who went on the run before his trial has been captured in France. Police in Calais arrested George Doulat, from Filey, North Yorkshire, on Monday. In his absence, Doulat was convicted at Bradford Crown Court for the rape, attempted rape and sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman in 2012. He was sentenced to 10 years.
