Police Raid Anti-G8 Squat
Riot police raided a former police station in central London on Tuesday as anti-G8 protests got underway.
The former police station on Beak Street, off Regent Street, had been squatted by anti-capitalist protesters, who later accused police of heavy-handed tactics.
Following a three-hour standoff, police forced their way into the squat and led protesters out.
While this was happening, protest group Stop G8 held its Carnival against Capitalism, which targeted banks, mining and oil companies in the capital and Claridge's Hotel and Boodle's private members club.
57 arrests were made in connection to the protests.
