£3,000 Overdraft Offered With Student Bank Account

Halifax have announced they will again offer an overdraft of up to £3,000 with the student accounts for the next academic year.

Last year, Halifax's overdraft was the largest offered on an account the bank says is 'designed by students for students'.

It is the largest again this year of the three banks to announce their student accounts.

Not everyone is guaranteed to receive the £3,000 limit, but the least amount to be offered to anyone accepted for an account will be £1,000.

The bank claims it decided to offer such a limit as research showed students wanted "flexibility" most.

Of the accounts announced, the average overdraft offered is £1,500 for years one to three of study, increasing to £2,000 in year four and beyond.
