CWU To Ballot Postal Workers On Strike Action
Following the announcement of government plans to privatise Royal Mail, the Communication Workers Union have said that they will ballot postal staff over strike action.
It is understood that if "satisfactory agreements" are not reached by September, the union has agreed to proceed with a strike action ballot, which would be the first held since 2009.
The union has said its concerns are over protecting jobs and pay levels, and to to prevent any deterioration of pensions and postal services.

Fire Brigade Union Announce 8 Days Of Strikes
The Fire Brigade Union has announced a new series of strikes in England and Wales to begin on 9th August. Firefighters will strike for "a few hours" for eight consecutive days, the union said. The strike action is the latest in an ongoing dispute over government plans to cut pensions and extend the retirement age.

Postal workers to vote on strike action
Postal workers are to start voting this week on whether to take strike action in a dispute over working practices. Around 1,000 members of the Communication Workers Union at distribution centres in Essex, London and Nottingham are being balloted. If a strike goes ahead, the Royal Mail warned that postal services could be disrupted nationwide.

Commuters Face Further Tube Delays
Commuters in London are still facing travel misery on the Tube, despite the fact that a 72-hour strike by maintenance workers has been called off. The RMT union called off the strike action, which began at 6pm on Monday and involved around 2,300 employees, following talks with London Underground officials.
