Coastguards Caution On Danger Of Rip Tides
The coastguard in Wales has issued a warning to the public to be aware of rip currents following incidents in both north and south Wales.
Five people needed assistance from Horton RNLI in two separate incidents at Three Cliffs Bay, Gower, while a young child was swept out to sea in a rubber ring and family members cut by rocks as they tried to rescue him at Shell Island, near Llanbedr, Gwynedd.
The coastguard has urged people to only swim at a life-guarded beach.
None of the people in the alerts needed medical attention.

Fire at BT exchange disrupts phone services
Up to 25,000 BT customers have had their services disrupted after a fire broke in a telephone exchange in Scotland last night. The fire at the facility on Mansfield Road, Musselburgh, mostly affected customers around Musselburgh, Longniddry and Gullane where landlines and some mobile phones are out of operation – including 999 services.

Over 2,000 People Use 'Help To Buy' Scheme
More than 2,000 people have put in offers on homes under the Help to Buy scheme, totalling £365 million of new mortgage lending. The applications are backed by a 'decision in principle' by RBS and Lloyds, the first two participating banks, for 95 per cent mortgages. Ten of the 2,384 applications have already completed.

Widespread Use Of Aspirin Slammed
A new study in The Lancet medical journal has found that healthy people who take aspirin reduced their already small risk of heart attack or stroke by just 12%. However, the small risk of internal bleeding increased by a third.

Four Die In Refinery Blast
A police investigation has been launched following an explosion at a Pembrokeshire oil refinery. It has been confirmed that four people died as a result of the incident and one worker remains critically ill. The blast occured around 6.

Pensioner found in ‘critical condition’
A 71-year-old man reported missing while on holiday in Wales has been found by Coastguards in a ‘critical condition’. Milford Haven Coastguard mounted a search around 9:30pm last night around the Constitution Hill area in Aberystwyth in Wales after being contacted by Dyfed Powys police.
