Oxfordshire Four-Runway Airport Plans Submitted

Plans for a new £18.2 billion four-runway airport in Oxfordshire have been submitted to the governments Airport Commission, which is investigating the possibility of airport expansion in the South East.

Pleiade Associates have submitted the plans, which provide a terminal for 125 million passengers a year, a hotel and an eight-platform train station.

Some 50 airport proposals have been submitted to date. The Airport Commission will compile a shortlist later in the year.

Four men arrested in anti-terror operation
Four men have been arrested under the Terrorism Act in London as part of a continuing investigation into alleged international terrorism, police have revealed. Three men - two aged 29 and one aged 21 - were arrested on Monday night in Hackney, east London, while the fourth man - who is aged 28 - was arrested on Tuesday in south-east London.

EasyJet To Create 2,500 Jobs
easyJet has agreed a new 10 year deal with London Luton Airport which could see the airline more than double its size at the airport from four to nine million passengers a year. The expansion would also see the creation of 2,500 new jobs at the airport and in the surrounding region.

Plans Submitted For Second Gatwick Runway
Work will begin on detailed plans for a second runway at Gatwick airport, which would double annual capacity to 70 million passengers, bosses have said. The airport's owners say they will scrutinise the options to develop the site up to 2020 and beyond.

Race hate preacher deported
Race hate cleric Abdullah al-Faisal has been deported from Britain, Home Secretary John Reid has confirmed. The 39-year-old, who is of Jamaican origin, is understood to have left Gatwick airport, bound for Jamaica, around midday, accompanied by two police escorts and an immigration officer.
