Shotguns Recovered In Newport Shooting
Police investigating the fatal shooting of 46-year-old Caroline Parry in Newport last week have said three shotguns have been recovered.
It is understood the firearms belonged Ms Parry's estranged husband, 49-year-old Christopher.
The woman was shot dead in Seabreeze Avenue, Newport, on Thursday. Her husband also suffered gunshot wounds and remains in a critical condition in hospital.
In a statement, officers said the firearms were "legally held" by Mr Parry. They were removed from a property in Cwmbran.
The couple were found lying injured in the road on Thursday after neighbours reported hearing gunshots. Relationship problems between the couple had been known to Gwent Police and the Independent Police Complaints Commission in now investigating.
A spokesman for Gwent Police is quoted as saying: "Officers investigating the fatal shooting of 46-year-old Caroline Parry who died on Thursday have recovered a small number of firearms from an address in Croesyceiliog in Cwmbran.
"The firearms were legally held by 49-year-old Christopher Parry who is the husband of Caroline.
"He remains in a critical condition at the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport.
"Police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident."
The spokesman added that the force had received an "excellent response" from the community regarding the incident and were working towards "a clearer picture of what happened in the lead up to and the events on Thursday in Seabreeze Avenue".
They also renewed their appeal for more information.
Police said they intended to speak to Mr Parry as part of the inquiry should his medical condition improve.
Last Thursday (8 August), armed officers were called to Seabreeze Avenue at 8.45am where they found the couple. Both were taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital where Mrs Parry later died.
