Recovered Gun Revealed As Murder Weapon
A gun recovered from a canal on Merseyside has been identified as the weapon used in an unsolved murder committed in Liverpool last December.
Police have confirmed that the weapon, which was found by a walker along with stolen mobile phones and jewellery next to the Leeds and Liverpool Canal in Melling in June, was used to murder Jamie Stark on 2 December 2012.
Mr Stark was shot several times outside his home by a lone male, who then escaped across nearby fields.
It is understood that the crime is believed to have criminal gang connections and the find has been described as an "important development in the investigation".

Man In Court Over Rhys Murder
A 20-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with the murder of Merseyside schoolboy Rhys Jones. James Yates, from Croxteth, was arrested on Wednesday. He was charged with assisting an offender and appeared before Liverpool Magistrates Court on Friday, where he was remanded in custody until April 25.

Reward offered in Nottinghamshire pensioner murder
Nottinghamshire Police are offering a £10,000 reward for information to help catch the killer of pensioner Hilda Owen. Mrs Owen, 71, was found dead in her home in West Hill, Skegby, on March 1. She had suffered severe head injuries as a result of a number of blows to the head with a blunt instrument.

Stabbed PC - murder weapon found
The knife used to murder special constable Nisha Patel-Nasri has been found, police have revealed. Mrs Patel-Nasri, 29, was stabbed to death outside her home in Wembley, north-west London on May 11. Police believe that she may have been killed with her own kitchen knife.
