MPs Vote Against Syrian Military Response
MPs last night voted against military action in Syria by a majority of 285 to 272.
The government had debated the possibility of military action in response to an alleged chemical attack carried out by the Syrian government on August 21, near Damascus.
The motion put forward by Prime Minister David Cameron was in support of military action based on the findings on UN weapons inspectors, who are investigating the nature of the Damascus attack and who carried it out.
However, by a margin of 13, MPs voted against any military action, regardless of what evidence the United Nations might produce.
Both the US and France have said that they will continue with their own military plans despite Britain choosing to not become involved.
