Former CPS Employees Jailed Over £1m Taxi Scam
Two people have been jailed for six years each for their part in a £1m taxi expenses scam.
Former Crown Prosecution Service finance manager Lisa Burrows and taxi driver Tahir Mahmood, who also worked in administration for the CPS, pleaded guilty to defrauding the Crown Prosecution Service of some £4,000 per week over a period of five years, by producing invoices for a non-existent taxi company.
The court had heard the Burrows, 41, and Mahmood, 50, were in a relationship and used the money to pay for holidays and designer clothes, handbags and jewellery.
Birmingham Crown Court sentenced the pair to six years in prison.
