Passenger plane holed by hail stones
A plane on route to Manchester airport bore the scars of its brush with a hail storm last night as it taxied to the terminal with a hole the size of football in its nose cone.
The passenger plane, which had more than 200 people on board, was returning from Cyprus when it passed through storms over Germany at around 11.30pm. During the flight, the pilot's cabin window was also cracked by hail stones.
Whilst the BMI Airbus showed clear signs of external damage the carrier confirmed that the aircraft's flying capability was unaffected.
None of the 213 passengers and crew have been reported as injured.
