Girl, 16, Charged With Murder Of Baby

A 16-year-old girl has been charged with the murder of a newborn baby.

The girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with the death of the baby boy in Baston, Lincolnshire, between 3 and 4 September.

The body of the infant was found by police at a house in the village on 5 September.

Appearing before Grantham Magistrates' Court, the teenager was remanded into local authority care to appear before Lincoln Crown Court.

April Jones' Parents To Plan Her Funeral

The parents of five-year-old April Jones are said to be planning a funeral for their daughter.

April was murdered almost a year ago.

They hope that an inquest hearing on Monday will allow them to carry out a burial of her remains found in the home of her killer, Mark Bridger.

April went missing on from Machynlleth, Powys, on 1 October 2012 and her body has never been found. She was abducted by Bridger while playing near her home. Her disappearance sparked the biggest missing person search in UK police history.

In May, Bridger was given a whole-life tariff by a judge at Mold Crown Court for the murder and abduction of the little girl.

Woman Found With Head Injuries

Police in Scotland have launched an investigation after a 62-year-old woman was found with head injuries.

She was discovered in Milton Row, Dunipace, on Thursday afternoon.

Following the discovery, she was taken to Edinburgh's Western General Hospital where she is still being treated.

Police said they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman's injuries and have appealed for witnesses.

Child Murderer Mark Bridger Attacked In Prison
The man jailed for the murder of five-year-old April Jones, has been attacked in prison. It has been reported that Mark Bridger, who is serving a full-life term at Wakefield prison, was slashed across the face with a makeshift blade. It is likely he will be left permanently scarred.

Police Launch Murder Investigation After Woman Is Found Stabbed In A Field
A mother who was found dead in a field in the New Forest is believed to have been stabbed to death. Penelope Davis, 47, was looking after her horses at the time of the attack. Her husband, Pete, found her body on Ley Green Farm in Beaulieu. Police have launched a murder investigation and are appealing to anyone with information to contact them.

35 Years For Blackpool Man Who Murdered Teenager
A 23-year-old man has been found guilty of the murder of a 16-year-old girl in Blackpool. Teenager Sasha Marsden was stabbed 58 times and set on fire in what Lancashire Police described as "one of the most horrific cases" they had encountered.

Police Investigating If Woman Was Trying To Save Dog When She Was Hit By Train
British Transport Police investigating the death of a woman have said that she may have been trying to save a dog when she was hit by a train. The 22-year-old woman was struck by a train close to Ainsdale station near Southport, Merseyside at about 15:00 on Wednesday. Transport police said a dog was also found dead at the scene.

Arrests Made Over 2006 Double Murder
Officers from Trident, investigating gun crime in the capital, have arrested one man and two women in connection with the murder of Jordan Jackson and Leyla Djemal-Northcott in 2006. Following new information, police used a specialist diving team to search the Regent's Canal for the murder weapon.
