Waitrose Reported To OFT Over Hot Drink Offer

A Waitrose supermarket in Buckingham has been reported to the Office of Fair Trading over offering its loyalty card holder free hot drinks.

The owner of a cafe next to the supermarket has claimed that the offer is damaging his business and that it is "unfair trading".

Cafe owner, Garry Sutherland, claims to have lost £200 a week since the Waitrose offer began six weeks ago.

Liverpool Consider Suspending Bus Lanes To Ease Traffic

Liverpool City Council are considering temporarily scrapping their bus lanes in an effort to reduce congestion in the city.

The city's Mayor, Joe Anderson, has cited research showing that bus lanes cause traffic jams and don't encourage any more people to use public transport.

It is understood LCC are considering suspending the lanes for nine months. A meeting will be held next week to discuss the proposal.

Edinburgh Zoo Koala Gives Birth

Edinburgh Zoo has become the first in the UK to succeed in breeding koala's.

It is understood that female koala at the zoo is believed to be carrying a joey it is pouch after giving birth early in the summer.

According to the zoo the joey can be seen wriggling in the pouch and could make its first appearance in the next six weeks.

Pinewood Shepperton share offer promises £46m
The share launch by UK film studio complex Pinewood Shepperton on the London Stock Exchange today was expected to net £46.2 million, but the oversubscribed share offer promises to net the company much more. The studios, home to Harry Potter and James Bond film productions, announced today that the shares had been launched at 180 pence each.

Asda lowers petrol price to under 80p per litre
Retail chain Asda has today pegged the price of petrol sold at its pumps to stay under 80p per litre, and urged rivals to follow its lead. All Asda's 150 petrol stations will today offer a nationwide price of 79.9p at the pumps for both petrol and diesel.

MP Sparks Move Against Ticket Touting
A Labour MP has sparked a campaign that could see a cap placed on the resale of tickets to music and sporting events. Labour's Sharon Hodgson has proposed anyone reselling their tickets should be limited to placing only a maximum of 10% onto the original price they paid.
