Man Killed By Lorry After Fall From Road Bridge

One lane of the M62 in Cheshire remains closed after a man died when he fell from a bridge and was hit by a lorry.

The victim is said to be a 30-year-old man from Warrington, according to Cheshire Police. The incident happened at around 2.45am on Wednesday.

Two lanes of the motorway were reopened at around 8.25am this morning, with one remaining closed.

According to the Highways Agency, the closure pushed extra traffic on to the M6, M56, A580 East Lancashire Road and A57 Manchester Road.

Alton Towers Remains Closed Following Accident
Alton Towers remains closed today, 3 June, following an incident on one of its attractions on Tuesday. At around 2pm yesterday, two carriages crashed on a low section of track on the theme park's The Smiler rollercoaster. Sixteen passengers were on the ride at the time, some of which were trapped for four-and-a-half hours.

Police Officer Seriously Injured In Car Crash
A police car has overturned on the A12 in Essex, seriously injuring the officer driving. Two officers where in the car at the time of the crash at around 07:30 on Thursday morning. One was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. Essex police have said that the Silver Hyundai i30 was the only vehicle involved in the incident.

M2 Remains Closed After Mystery Hole Opens In Central Reservation
The M2 in Kent remains closed following the appearance of a 6ft wide and 15ft deep hole in the motorway's central reservation. Some 10 miles of the road between Junction five and Junction six have been closed since the hole appeared on Tuesday. Emergency safety checks and repairs are now underway at the site between Stockbury and Faversham.

Oldham 'Class A' Drugs Swoop
A man has been charged after drugs were found at a house in Oldham. Lee Cameron, 26, of Shaw Road, Oldham was charged with possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Oldham Magistrates Court on Thursday 19 November 2009.
