Assault Arrest Made During Badger Cull
A man has been arrested by police supervising a badger cull on suspicion of assault.
According to police, a 38-year-old man from the Gloucester area was detained on Thursday night in the cull zone near Tirley.
It is understood that an assault happened following a disagreement but that no-one was seriously injured, they would not however comment on what involvement the arrested man had in the cull.
Essex Schools Buys All Pupils New Uniforms
In what has been called an "attempt to raise aspirations" Ravens Academy in Clacton, Essex, has spent £14,000 buying new school uniforms for all of its pupils.
All 158 pupils at the school received five polo shirts, two jumpers or cardigans, shoes and a book bag.
The Academy Transformation Trust said it wanted its pupils to have a "level footing" when the ex-Ravenscroft Primary began life as an academy.
Family Fly To Russia To Support Arrested Greenpeace Activist
The family of a British Greenpeace activists are to fly to Russia to see her after she was detained by Russian officials who stormed a Greenpeace ship.
27-year-old Alex Harris has been held since last Thursday and is one of 30 crew from the Arctic Sunrise who have been told could face up to two months in custody.
The crew of the Greenpeace vessel were arrested for piracy following an incident in which two activists boarded a Russian off-shore drilling platform in the Arctic.

Man Sent Back To Jail After 16 Years On The Run
A man who absconded from an open prison in Chichester in July 1999 has been recaptured and returned to prison. Spencer White, now 39, from the Witterings area of Chichester, absconded from Ford Prison 16 years ago, after being sentenced to three years for kidnapping an adult. Police stopped White at Lanzarote airport on September 19.

Inquest Rules Mother Died Of 'Cannabis Poisoning'
An inquest into the death of a 31-year-old Dorset woman has ruled that she died of "cannabis poisoning". A post-mortem examination found that Gemma Moss, from Boscombe, Bournemouth, had moderate to high levels of the drug in her system when she died. It is thought that she suffered a cardiac arrest triggered by the drug.

A 64-year-old mafia boss, on the run for 18 years, has been arrested in London, the Metropolitan Police have said. Domenico Rancadore is described by Italian police as the head of a crime family involved in extortion, racketeering and drug trafficking. He was wanted by Italian authorities in connection with his links to Cosa Nostra.

European Arrest Warrant Issued For Teacher
A European arrest warrant has been issued for Jeremy Forrest, the maths teacher who travelled to France with missing schoolgirl Megan Stammers. 30-year-old Forrest and 15-year-old Megan have not been seen since they crossed the Channel from Dover to France on 20 September.
