British Gas To Introduce Price Hike In November
The average annual household fuel bill in the UK is set to increase by around £123 when British gas introduce a 9.2% rise in dual-fuel bills from November 23.
The price increase, which includes a gas price rise of 8.4% and an electricity price rise of 10.4%, is expected to affect almost eight million people in the UK.
The dual-fuel increase will have regional differences, with the largest, 11.2%, to be introduced by Scottish Hydro Electric and the smallest, 6.2%, being introduced in the south west of England.
British Gas has said that while it "understands the frustration" of prices rising faster than incomes the increases are due to the cost of buying energy on the global markets, delivering gas and electricity to customers' homes, and the government's "green" levies.
Home energy rival SSE has already announced an 8.2% increase in bills from 15 November.
