Scientists Test 'Bee-Friendly' Plants
So-called 'bee-friendly' plants are being tested in an experimental garden at the University of Sussex.
Scientists at the university will study the number of pollinator insects that visit the plants.
The university says that the study already shows that insect-friendly plants are just as pretty, cheap and easy to grow as less pollinator-friendly varieties.
Their results will be published in the Journal of Functional Ecology.
MPs To Debate British Activists Detained In Russia
MPs are to debate the continued detention of six British Greenpeace activists, who are facing charges of piracy in Russia.
The six Britons were among 30 people arrested by Russian authorities when they boarded a Greenpeace vessel in the arctic in September.
It is understood that the debate follows a meeting by MPs from the home constituencies of the detained Britons.
The charge of piracy carries a maximum sentence of 15 years.
All bail applications have so far been refused and the group is being held in pre-trial detention until late November.
Prince William Hosts First Investiture
Prince William has hosted his first investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Among those honoured were Wimbledon champion Andy Murray, who was presented with an OBE.
It represented an extension of the Duke of Cambridge's public duties after he left the Royal Air Force last month.
Standing in for the Queen, William presented awards recognising achievements in a wide range of fields to recipients from across the UK.

Driver And Passengers Escape Bus Fire
A bus driver and two passengers have escaped uninjured after the First Bluebird bus caught fire. The bus was at Stirling University Innovation Park when the fire broke out. It is understood that two fire engines were called to the scene to tackle the blaze. An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.

Women Diagnosed With Cancer Following Recall Of Patients
Six out of 30 women recalled following concerns about breast cancer screenings have been diagnosed with the disease. Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust recalled the women after a review of 626 cases between 2011 and 2014. It is understood that all the women were screened by the same radiologist.

The Chief Inspector of Hospitals has recommended Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust should be placed into special measures. Professor Sir Mike Richards' call follows serious concerns, highlighted during a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection, regarding the quality of some services for cancer patients at the trust.
