Landowner Set To Introduce Wolves And Bears To Estate
Plans to create a wilderness reserve in Sutherland will go ahead, landowner Paul Lister has vowed.
Lister, heir to the MFI furniture fortune, bought the Alladale Estate some 10 years ago, and hopes to introduce wolves and bears, alongside the elk and wild boars that were released on a trial basis.
However, farmers, walkers and legal experts have all expressed their opposition to the scheme.
More than 800,000 native trees have been planted, and the estate is involved in projects to protect native species including the Scottish wildcat and the red squirrel.
New IXP To Speed Up Scottish Internet
A dedicated internet exchange point (IXP) is due to live this week, speeding up internet services across Scotland.
The IXP will allow internet service providers to pass traffic to each other, which is expected to reduce internet "lag" time by up to 75%.
Currently most of Scotland's internet traffic goes through London, Manchester or Leeds, which can result in delays.
IXScotland, which is based at the Pulsant data centre in Edinburgh, was set up by the London Internet Exchange (Linx).

Arriva has blamed public transport funding and fuel costs for the decision.
