Survey Finds Officers Want Change To Police Federation
The organisation representing police officers needs to change, an independent review has found.
The review, carried out by a panel chaired by former Home Office permanent secretary, Sir David Normington, suggests that 91% of police office believe it is time for the Police Federation to change.
It also found that of the 12,500 officers surveyed, 64% are "dissatisfied" with the federation's performance.
According to the review, officers reported being "appalled" by the damage caused to the force by the ongoing "plebgate" scandal.
The Police Federation are understood to have described the findings as "worrying".

The Queen has unveiled a National Police Memorial in tribute to British police officers killed in the line of duty. The £2.3 million project includes a large black wall with a glass cabinet displaying a book which names 1,600 police officers who have died in the line of duty.

Police Lose High Court Pay Battle
Police officers have lost their High Court battle for a 2.5% pay rise to be paid in full. Home Secretary Jacqui Smith refused to implement their pay award in full, which has led to bitterness among the ranks. The Police Federation said that Ms Smith has acted unlawfully.
