Jones Attends Remembrance Day Ceremony At The Royal Mint

The Secretary of State for Wales, David Jones, has visited The Royal Mint in Llantrisant, South Wales to tour what is known to be Britain's oldest manufacturing organisation and the world's largest export mint.

Greeted by Andrew Mills, Director of Circulating Coin at The Royal Mint, Mr Jones attended a Remembrance Day ceremony in the company of Royal Mint Directors and staff, where he laid a wreath at the Royal Mint war memorial accompanied by the Last Post played by a member of The Band of the Grenadier Guards.

The Secretary of State said: "Remembrance Day represents one of the most powerful moments in our history. It is a time where we pause to remember those men and women who have died or suffered in wars, conflicts and peace operations around the world.

"The red remembrance poppy has become a familiar emblem of Remembrance Day. The Remembrance Day coin is also a fitting tribute to those who have given their lives in the service of our country, and our gratitude to our servicemen and women who continue to protect our way of life, both at home and overseas."

Man Attacked And Robbed In Taunton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted and robbed of cash in Taunton.

The victim, a 19-year-old man, was walking by the canal behind Morrisons supermarket in the Brewhouse Theatre area at about 11.40pm on Sunday 10 November, following a night out with friends.

He was approached by two men and one of them demanded he hand over his wallet. After initially refusing, the victim was punched twice in the head and forced to hand over money.

Both offenders ran off and were last seen heading over a canal bridge.

The first was white, 5ft 9ins, in his early twenties, with short brown/blond tinted hair. He was wearing a zip-up jacket.

The second was of a similar age to the first offender, but the victim was unable to provide any further description.

Police also received a call around the same time from a man who reported being confronted by two men on the same stretch of path, who had demanded his wallet. This victim, who did not leave his details, was not assaulted and had nothing taken.

He described one of the men as white, late thirties, of stocky build, with stubble and wearing a short green jacket. The other was white, 6ft 2ins and was wearing a black jacket with the hood up.
