Police Appeal After A Man Is Shot In The Foot In Hollywood

West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was shot in the foot while he sat in his house in Hollywood on Thursday night, 14 November.

The man, who is aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital where he remains today (Fri 15 Nov). The name of the hospital has not been released.

The incident occurred at approximately 10.45pm in Lee Road, Hollywood, and police want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have vital information.

Police believe this was a targeted attack on the address and is not a random incident. The offender did not enter the property but fired the weapon from outside the house.

One man was arrested in connection with the inquiry.

Missing Pensioner Found

Missing pensioner Marjorie McBean has been found safe and well in West Bromwich.

The 70-year-old from Balsall Heath went missing from her home on Thursday afternoon.

Officers were flooded with calls from the public following an online appeal for help in tracking the woman who is currently being checked over by medics in hospital.

New Chair Of The NERC Appointed

Universities and Science Minister, David Willetts, has announced the appointment of Sir Anthony Cleaver as the new chair of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).

Mr Willetts said: "Sir Anthony brings with him wide ranging experience across a number of sectors. His knowledge and expertise will be vital in leading an organisation that funds world-class science. I wish him well in his new role."

Sir Anthony Cleaver said: "I am pleased to have this opportunity to contribute to NERC, given its vital role in developing our understanding of so many key issues."

Sir Anthony Cleaver will succeed Ed Wallis on 1 January 2014. The appointment is for four years.

Fourth man charged with Mary-Ann murder
A fourth man has been charged with the murder of Reading teenager Mary-Ann Leneghan, Thames Valley Police have confirmed. Llewellyn Olemide Adams, 23, was charged with the murder of the 16-year-old this afternoon. Earlier today, two men appeared in court charged with Mary-Ann's murder.

Gang 'boss' convicted of cockling deaths
A 29-year-old man has been found guilty of the manslaughter of 21 cockle pickers who drowned at Morecambe Bay. Lin Liang Ren, from Liverpool, had denied being the head of the cockle picking operation, which brought over illegal immigrants to collect cockles, and denied the manslaughter charges.

Stuart Hall Appears In Court
Broadcaster Stuart Hall has appeared at Preston Crown Court in relation to charges of sexual offences. The 83-year-old, from Wilmslow, Cheshire, appeared before Judge Anthony Russell QC, who adjourned the hearing and bailed Mr Hall. A date for a further appearance was set for 2 May at the same court.
