Hull Named As 2017 UK City Of Culture

The UK's next City of Culture in 2017 will be Hull, following Londonderry, which has held the title in 2013.

Known for being the home of poet Philip Larkin, the Ferens gallery and the Truck theatre, Hull beat Leicester, Swansea Bay and Dundee to the honour, which the UK government give out every four years.

It is hoped that being named UK City of Culture will help tourism and the economy of both the selected city and the surrounding areas.
