Mortgage Lending Takes 'Slight Dip' In October
The number of mortgages agreed in the UK fell slightly in October, according to an industry report.
The British Bankers Association (BBA) report that 42,808 loans were approved by UK banks last month, down by 375 on the number in September.
The figures also show another fall in the number of loans agreed for businesses, a trend described as "disappointing".
Overall, mortgage lending increased across the last twelve months by 33%.

Mortgage lending has fallen again over the 12 months to October, according to latest figures released from the British Bankers Association (BBA). The number of mortgages approved for house purchases was down to 21,584 - 52% lower than a year earlier. Meanwhile net lending for mortgages rose by £2.9 billion last month, compared with £3.

House prices slipped further in November, according to the latest RICS UK Housing Market survey. Some 44% more chartered surveyors reported prices fell rather than rose in November, a slight improvement on October's net balance of -49.

Mortgage Approvals Rise By 19%
The number of mortgages approved for house purchases in Britain has jumped by 19% in February, figures have revealed. Bank of England figures showed there were 38,000 approvals last month, up from 32,000 in January.

UK Unemployment At Six Year Low
New figures from the Office for National Statistics show that the UK unemployment rate fell to 6.4% in the three months to June, it's lowest since 2008. The number of people unemployed now stands at 2.08 million, a fall of 132,000.

Number of UK Employed Reaches Record High
In the three months to December UK unemployment fell 14,000 to a total of 2.5 million, figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show. Alongside the fall the number of people in work jumped to a new record, rising by 154,000 to 29.7 million. More than 580,000 more people are employed than a year ago.
