Heavy Fog Causes Flight Chaos In London
Heavy fog has lifted from London's Heathrow Airport.
Some 125 flights were cancelled as a result of the weather conditions with many more passengers facing delays.
A spokesperson for the airport added that further cancellations could still occur as staff worked to deal with the backlog.
While conditions are clearer at Heathrow, London's City Airport remains affected by fog.
Every flight that was expected to arrive or depart the airport was cancelled, delayed or diverted as a result, and at Southampton, conditions have also cleared allowing the flight schedule to continue.
Luton and Gatwick have reported no cancellations and only minor delays.
Early on Wednesday, the Met Office issued a warning that visibility was lower than 50 metres in places in and around London. The fog is expected to last throughout the morning, but it remained a lot longer than forecasted.
