Woman Dies After Dog Attack
A 27-year-old woman has died after being attacked by dogs.
Emma Bennett died on Tuesday night after suffering from serious bite injuries in an incident at a house in Dawlish Avenue, Leeds.
The attack, which happened on Monday afternoon (9 December), is reported to have occurred while the woman was suffering an epileptic seizure.
In a statement released on Wednesday, West Yorkshire Police confirmed a 33-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of offences under the Dangerous Dogs Act in connection with Ms Bennett's death.
Detective Superintendent Simon Beldon, who is leading the investigation, said: "Early indications are that the two dogs seized from the address are American pit bull terriers although tests are still ongoing to establish their exact make up.
"Dogs of this type are subject to restrictions under the Dangerous Dogs Act and our enquiries are focused on this aspect.
"We are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about the incident or the dogs involved in it to contact the investigation team."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact detectives at West Yorkshire Police's Protective Services Crime via 101.

New proposals for England and Wales could see owners of dogs that attack and kill face a life sentence in prison. Currently, the maximum sentence is two years for those convicted of allowing a dog to be dangerously out of control. Under proposals put forward by the government, a range of new sentences would be available, from seven years to life.

Bull Terrier In Attack On Girl
A Staffordshire bull terrier in North Yorkshire has seriously injured a 10-year-old girl in an attack. The attack happened near Alanbrooke Barracks in Thirsk on Thursday evening. A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police confirmed that the girl had been bitten on the cheek and was due to undergo surgery.

Dangerous Dogs Seized By Police During Raids
Twenty dangerous dogs have been seized by officers in police raids in south London. During the operation - one of the largest of its kind - specialist officers raided the homes of suspected gang members and owners of illegal dogs and seized mostly pit bull terrier type dogs from 12 addresses in Lambeth.

Twenty Dogs Die In East Yorkshire House Fire
Humberside Fire and Rescue have confirmed that twenty dogs have died in a fire in East Yorkshire. It is understood that a fire broke out at the home of a private dog breeder on Graingers Road, Hornsea, at about 19:00 on Saturday.
