Anti-Fracking Protesters Block Site With Wind Turbine Blade
A 56ft wind turbine blade has been used by anti-fracking protesters to block access to a shale gas test drilling site.
The turbine blade was placed outside the Barton Moss site in Salford at around 05:30, in what has been described as a "symbolic action".
It is understood that Greater Manchester Police are working to clear the blade and unblock the entrance to the site.
The No Dash for Gas group said about 50 activists unloaded the 1.5-tonne blade from a lorry and assembled it. IGas said there were 30 protesters.
A spokesperson for the group said: "This is a symbolic action - there are environmentally-friendly forms of renewable energy that we should be pursuing."
