Wensleydale Cheese Given EU Protection
Wensleydale cheese has been granted EU protection, meaning that only cheese produced in the Yorkshire Dales can use the name Yorkshire Wensleydale.
Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status has been awarded by the European Commission.
Other British products already protected include the Cornish Pasty and Cumberland Sausages.
London Cycle Grid Map Published
A cycle network map has been produced by the Royal Parks, the Canal & River Trust and Transport for London (TfL), running parallel to London Underground lines.
Covering seven London boroughs the Central London Grid features dedicated "cycle streets", which would be closed to other traffic.
The first routes will open next year and at least half the network should be completed by 2016. The public can give their feedback on the routes on the TfL website until 14 February.
Homes Evacuated After Gas Tanker Crashes Into Bridge
A number of homes in South Wales were evacuated after a gas tanker crashed into a bridge.
According to reports the lorry collided at around 9.20am on Friday morning near Nant Gwyn House, Werfa, Aberdare.
There were no reports of any injuries but homes near the crash site were evacuated while gas was transferred from the crashed lorry into another tanker.

Cyclist Killed In Central London
Police are investigating the circumstances of the death of cyclist in central London. It is understood the female cyclist died after her Barclays Cycle Hire bike collided with a tipper truck. The accident happened at about 08:00 on Victoria Street.

Man Jailed For Attempted Murder Of Pc
A south London man has been jailed for 25 years for tying to shoot a policeman. Michael Mitchell, 32, of Babington Road, Streatham, was convicted of attempting to murder Pc Shaun Callow, possession of a firearm and possession of drugs with intent to supply.

Met Cops 'Get On Their Bikes'
A new, 30-strong Police Cycle Task Force hit the streets of London today, as the police force, the Mayor and Transport for London (TfL) published a draft plan for tackling cycle theft and vandalism in the capital. The Task Force forms part of the Metropolitan Police Service's Safer Transport Command team and is funded by TfL.

Homes evacuated after east London industrial estate fire
Around 500 people have been evacuated from the area surrounding a huge fire on an industrial estate in Leyton, east London. London Fire Brigade said that 50 firefighters were working to make the area safe after a blaze broke out in a single storey warehouse on Argall Avenue at around 3.40am this morning.
