Couple Threatened In Knife Attack
Police are appealing for information after a couple were approached by a man wielding a knife as they walked through an estate in Chorley.
The incident happened at 8pm on Thursday 2 January when the 17-year-old boy and his girlfriend were approached from behind by a man on Clover Road, close to the Gillbrands estate.
It is reported the man has shouted abuse at the boy before swinging at him with a knife. The victim managed to block him using his arm. The offender then fled and made his way on foot up Lidgate Road.
The man is described as being aged between 20 to 25 years of age; over 6ft tall and of skinny build. He was wearing a dark hooded top and dark tracksuit bottoms and spoke with a local accent.
PC Steve Benko from Chorley Police said: "Fortunately the victim managed to defend himself and was unhurt. I would reassure people that incidents of this nature are rare in Chorley but I'd appeal to anyone who may have any information about the identity of this man to contact Lancashire Police on 101.
"He is described as being under the influence of drink and drugs or suffering from a mental illness and we need the public's help to find him."
Homeless Man Jailed After Burglary
A homeless man who targeted a Maidstone house by burgling it three times in the space of eight weeks has been jailed.
Thomas Morgan, 25, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison after pleading guilty to the offences. Between 21 September and 28 November 2013, the victim's home in Bell Road, Maidstone, was burgled three times, with electrical items, jewellery and even bed clothes being stolen. On one occasion a screwdriver was left at the scene, as well as adhesive tape on the window. Following the theft, Morgan was found to be living in a shed in Hollingworth Road, and some of the stolen property was recovered from the shed, along with paperwork in his name. Crime scene investigators also recovered tape and screwdrivers identical to those that had been left at the scene.
Morgan was arrested and initially denied any involvement but, having been charged with three counts of burglary, pleaded guilty.
