Man Charged Over Serious Assault, Manchester
A man has been charged with assault by Manchester Police after a 37-year-old man was attacked outside the Assheton Arms pub on Market Place.
36-year-old James O’Connor (23/06/1981) of Great Arbor Way, Middleton, has been charged with assault and was due to appear at Bury Magistrates Court today.
The assault occurred at about 02:10 on Sunday 16 February this year.
The man was taken to hospital in a critical condition. His injuries are believed to be life threatening.
Five Arrested Over W Yorkshire Murder
West Yorkshire Police have arrested a further five people in relation to the murder investigation into the death of 58-year-old Kevin Childs In Wakefield.
These include a 39-year-old male and a 34-year-old female, both from the Eastmoor area, a 26-year-old female and a 41-year-old male, both from Wakefield, and a 25-year-old female from Featherstone.
Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Taylor said: "All those arrested were taken into custody on suspicion of murder. A 66-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man, who were previously arrested in connection with the investigation, remain on police bail."
Appeal Over West Midlands Bank Card Thief
West Midlands Police have appealed for information regarding a cyclist who stole bank cards from cars and used them to withdraw cash in Solihull.
The first theft happened on 10 January on Manor Road when the offender broke into the car, stole bank cards and withdrew cash from an ATM on Dovehouse Parade in Solihull.
The second happened on 4 February on Ulverley Crescent. The thief broke into the car and stole a bank card from a purse left in a handbag. The offender withdrew cash from the Dovehouse Parade ATM the next day.
On both occasions the suspect is described as a white man, roughly in his mid twenties, traveling on a pedal cycle and wearing a hi-vis vest and a cap.
Man Sentenced Over Violent Domestic Assault
A man who subjected his victim to a violent domestic assault has been sentenced to 33 months in prison.
Mark Ronald Goodfellow was sentenced at the High Court in Edinburgh following the attack, which happened in the Niddrie area of the city on 14 September 2013.
Detective Inspector Morag Bruce from the Public Protection Unit said: "The sentence handed out to Mark Goodfellow today reflects the commitment of the Domestic Abuse Investigation Unit, Police Scotland and the Crown Office in removing violent domestic offenders from our communities."

Man Arrested Over Sexual Assault In Somerset
Police investigating a sexual assault in Somerset, during which a mother and child were tied up and held at knifepoint, have arrested a 59-year-old man. Police arrested the man on suspicion of aggravated burglary and sexual assault, in connection with the incident in Sydenham, Bridgewater on 21 January.

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.

Car Parking Row Man Dies
A salesman has died after an alleged assault following an argument over a parking space. The 53 year-old man collapsed, shortly after 2pm on Tuesday, after being involved in the fight behind some shops in Griffnock, East Renfrewshire. He later died at the Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow.

The 36-year-old, currently on loan at Burnley, was arrested in the early hours of yesterday morning at his home in Alderley Edge, Cheshire. Chesire Police have confirmed a man was arrested on suspicion of assault.
