Woman Stops Dead Husband's Sperm Being Destroyed

Beth Warren has won a legal battle to stop her husband's frozen sperm being destroyed after he died from a brain tumour two years ago.

Although he signed paperwork saying his wife could use his sperm if he died regulations meant his sperm was due to be destroyed in April 2015.

The law allows sperm and eggs to be stored for up to 55 years renewing the agreement every decade but after Mr Warren died in February 2012 the consent could not longer be renewed.

Mrs Warren said later the verdict she was "elated".

Cowell Worried About Loving Dogs More Than Son

Simon Cowell admitted in an interview with his ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour he was worried that he might like his dogs more than his son before the baby's birth.

However, the music mogul said now he is so happy and thinks he was "born to be a dad".

He said: "I wouldn't rule out [more children]. Well, I've got (Yorkshire terriers) Squiddly and Diddly, and I couldn't imagine Squiddly or just Diddly... I had a brother when I was younger, so I kind of think it's cool to have two or three ... two."

The 54-year-old admitted he cried when Eric was born and said any trepidation he felt quickly dissipated.

Fire Blamed On Bird With Lit Cigarette

The fire on the roof of a building in Landor Road, Stockwell last Wednesday might have been provoked by a bird carrying a lit cigarette to its nest, according to London Fire Brigade investigators.

They believe the bird took the smouldering butt to its nest on the building.

Matt Cullen, who examined the scene said he was baffled: "The smoking gun was found when we discovered a partially burnt birds nest."

The fire damaged a fifth of the building's roof and nine people were evacuated.

Mr Cullen said: "When we got up into the roof, we were baffled as there were no obvious ignition sources. No-one had been up to there for a long time and there were no electrics that could have sparked a blaze.”"
