RMT General Secretary Bob Crows Dies Aged 52
Bob Crow, general secretary of the Rail Maritime and Transport Union, has died aged 52.
According to reports Mr Crow is believed to have suffered and heart attack, dying in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Mr Crow took over as general secretary of the RMT in 2002, following the death of former leader Jimmy Knapp.
Following the news London Mayor Boris Johnson posted to Twitter: "Sad news about Bob Crow. We may have differed politically but he was a man of character who fought tirelessly for his members."

RMT Threaten Strike Action Over Potential Job Losses
The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union have said that its members will strike if expected job cuts and closures are announced by Transport for London (TfL) on Thursday. According to the union some 3,000 jobs are at risk and hundred of tickets offices face closure as TfL face cuts of about £80 million in the coming year.

'Progress Being Made' In Afghanistan War
There's to be 'progress' in the war in Afghanistan over the next year. Arriving in Belfast for a commemoration ceremony, Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth predicted success in the bloody conflict. He was attending a thanksgiving service for the Army's Ulster-based 19 Light Brigade which has taken place at St Anne's Cathedral.

Unions Call For Co-Ordinated Action On Cuts
Trade unions are calling for co-ordinated strike action against the Government's planned spending cuts. Delegates at the TUC's annual congress in Manchester have backed plans for "joint industrial action", if the scale of planned Govenrment cuts is not reduced.

Unions To Debate Public Pay Protest
Delegates at the TUC Congress in Brighton have voted in favour of co-ordinated industrial action against the government's public sector pay policy. A motion pressing for days of action has following Westminster minister's attempts to limit pay rises to 2% in the public sector in order to "stem inflation".
