Glastonbury Granted 10-Year Licence

Mendip District Council has awarded the Glastonbury Festival a new 10-year licence, without the need for "scrutiny in a public hearing".

It is understood that there was no opposition to the festivals' application for a licence renewal.

It is thought that the number of tickets available to the public, currently 135,000, will not change, but passes for performers and staff could increase by 25,000, to a total of 63,000.

Chris Tarrant In Hospital After 'Mini-Stroke'

TV presenter Chris Tarrant has suffered a "mini-stroke", according to a report by the BBC.

A manager for the 67-year-old broadcaster confirmed the news that Mr Tarrant fell ill on a plane on 01 March and was taken to hospital.

His manager, Paul Vaughan, said that Tarrant is "making an excellent recovery and will be discharged in a day or so."

Officers Warned Over Night Shift Sex

Two Dyfed-Powys Police officers who were caught allegedly having sex while on duty have received final written warnings.

The officers were suspended from duty last year while an internal investigation was conducted.

"Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm that two officers who were suspended from duty pending an internal misconduct investigation have been issued with a final written warning," a spokesperson said.

"The decision was made by an independent panel chaired by a chief officer from another police force. The officers will recommence their duties in due course."

Queen unveils National Police Memorial
The Queen has unveiled a National Police Memorial in tribute to British police officers killed in the line of duty. The £2.3 million project includes a large black wall with a glass cabinet displaying a book which names 1,600 police officers who have died in the line of duty.

Met Combine All Ongoing Historical Child Abuse Investigations
The Metropolitan Police has combined all ongoing investigations into historical child abuse, to be led by a newly formed investigation team under Detective Superintendent Ang Scott. The force said that is has decided to combine Operations Midland and Fairbank following the discovery of a number of people and locations common to both enquiries.
