Partial DNA Links To Alia's Father Found
Police have found partial genetic matches to the father of the newborn baby girl found in a country lane in OX Hey Lane, Lostock in Greater Manchester on 14 March last year.
The baby was named Alia, and she was found by dog walkers wrapped in clothing and placed inside a plastic bag with a message requesting an Islamic burial.
There were no trace of the parents whose identity "remains unknown at this time", according the Detective Sgt Aaron Duggan.
In a bid to find the child's parents, officers identified the mothers DNA and the partial DNA of its father.
Police have not identified Alia's ethnicity or established the cause if her death since she was found.
