Retail Sales Bounce Back A 1.7% Rise In February
Retail sales increased more than expected in February according the official figures recuperating their sales volumes until nearly 1.7% last month after the post-Christmas slump when it felt a 2%.
In fact, February sales were 3.7% higher than a year earlier, according the Office for National Statistics numbers much more that the retail sales expected by economists who had talked about only 0.5% more on February and 2.5% on the year.
Furthermore retail prices fell for the first time in four years down 0.2% on a year ago, helped by a 4.4% fall in fuel prices.
Numbers are shown only two days after inflation was shown to have fallen to 1.7%, the lowest level since October 2009.
Online sales also increased with sales volumes a 1.6% higher in the three months to the end of February compared with the previous quarter.
On Tuesday a report form the Confederation of British Industry showed February retail sales grew slowly since November.

February Retail Sales Grow
The was a slight positive bounce in UK high street sales last month, following a marked drop in January. UK retail sales values rose 2.2% on a like-for-like basis from February 2009, when sales had dropped 1.8%, hit by snow and consumer caution. On a total basis, sales rose 4.5% against only 0.1% growth in February 2009.

ONS reports retail sales ‘restrained’
The latest three-monthly growth in retail sales volume was the highest since November 2004, the Office of National Statistics has reported. However, the report warned that the underlying trend appeared “restrained” and annual growth in sales volume fell to the lowest level for six years.

UK Retail Sales Jump
Retail sales between January and February grew by 2.1%, it was revealed today. It was the most significant upward trajectory since May 2008, when sales volume leaped by 2.9%. However, the Office of National Statistics said January data has been revised down, mainly due to late returns and revisions to existing data.

Quarterly sales flat in 'uncertain' consumer outlook
The latest figures for retail sales in the UK show that in the three months to January the seasonally adjusted index for retail sales remained flat and though the overall sales trend is on a par with the previous three months, the outlook remains uncertain.

NSO Reports Surprise Fall In Retail Sales
The Office for National Statistics have reported a 0.9% fall in retail sales volumes in August, as opposed to 0.4% rise that analysts had predicted. Despite the fall sales volumes were still 2.1% higher than in the same period in 2012, when the Olympics affected spending.
