7m To Benefit From GP Scheme PM Claims
Prime Minister David Cameron has announced new opening hours for GP surgeries in England, which he claims will benefit more than seven million people.
It follows the £50m GP Access Fund established in October last year, which will see GPs offer access outside normal hours, with people able to contact their doctor by phone, email and Skype.
However, Labour's Shadow Health Secretary Andy Burnham, has said: "People know from their own experience that it has got much harder to get a GP appointment under David Cameron."
Original estimates suggest that half a million people could benefit from the Access Fund, but more surgeries have now been added to the scheme, with the PM saying many more people benefit as a result.
