Record £5m Donation For The Natural History Museum
The third most visited museum in the United Kingdom, The Natural History Museum, has received a £5m donation from philanthropist couple Sir Michael and Lady Dorothy Hintze.
It is believed to be the biggest single donation the museum has received in its 133 years.
To mark the importance of the grant, the Natural History will rename its Central Hall to the Hintze Hall.
Sir Michael said: "Our gift recognises the museum's great value as a cultural and scientific institution, enjoyed by millions including ourselves, we feel privileged to be able to make a contribution towards securing this centre of scientific knowledge and research for present and future generations."
The gift will be used for scientific research and to maintain the collections, which were viewed by 5.3 million visitors last year.

Trio Deny Helping July 7 Bombers
Three men from Leeds accused of helping those behind the July 7 bomb attack in London have denied conspiracy to cause an explosion. Jurors heard today that Waheed Ali, 24, Sadeer Saleem, 27, and Mohammed Shakil, 32, looked for potential locations to detonate bombs such as the Natural History Museum and the London Eye.

Whale's bones to go to Natural History Museum
The whale, which died in the River Thames at the weekend, is to be given to the Natural History Museum. The young female bottlenose whale made headlines around the world when she swam into the Thames last Friday. Hundreds of spectators gathered to witness the sight - no such animal had been spotted in the Thames since records began in 1913.

Union claims freelance victory at BBC
Freelancers in the BBC's Natural History Unit have won the right for Bectu to bargain on their pay and conditions. In a postal ballot run under new labour laws governing compulsory union recognition, all but three of the freelancers participating voted for Bectu to represent them.
