Convicted Killer Fails To Return After Day Release
A convicted killer has failed to return to prison following a day release on Saturday.
44-year-old Arnold Pickering, from Greater Manchester, failed to return to Kennet Prison on Liverpool, marking the third time he has gone on the run.
Pickering was jailed for life in 1991.
A second inmate who also failed to return on Saturday, 51-year-old Thomas Moffet, has been arrested.
The failure t return come just weeks after Michael 'Skull Cracker' Wheatley failed to return to an open prison on Kent. He was arrested after a search operation connected him to an armed robbery.

FCA Fines CSI And YBS For Failing To Ensure Financial Promotions
The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has today fined both Credit Suisse International (CSI) and Yorkshire Building Society (YBS) for failing to ensure financial promotions for CSI's Cliquet Product1 were clear, fair and not misleading. CSI was fined £2,398,100 and YBS's fine was £1,429,000.

Prison officers suspended over corruption claims
Fourteen prison officers have been suspended from HMP Pentonville following allegations of corruption. A spokesperson for the Prison Service confirmed that the prison officers had been suspended over allegations which concerned trafficking and "inappropriate relations" with prisoners.

Prisons face overcrowding crisis
Prisons in England and Wales are under "enormous pressure" and are facing a "looming overcrowding crisis", according to a charity report. The Prison Reform Trust reported that prison numbers have crept up again since Christmas rising to over 77,000 again.

Police appeal after prisoner absconds
Police have appealed for information about a prisoner who failed to return to an open prison. Edress Ibrahim Kaid, 44, failed to return to HMP Prescoed at around 7pm on Monday evening. Kaid, who is from Cardiff, was convicted for burglary at Cardiff Crown Court in June 2004.
