Second Suffolk Prisoner On The Run

A 30-year-old man is being hunted by Suffolk Police after escaping from prison.

Lewis Powter's escape is the second breakout at the prison in 48 hours, after another man absconded.

Mr Powter was serving an indeterminate sentence for grievous bodily arm with intent and is described as white, around 5ft 10ins, medium build, clean-shaven with brown hair and blue eyes and wearing a blue jumper with a white T-shirt underneath, blue jeans and white Ralph Lauren trainers.

The other escaped prisoner, 49-year-old Paul Oddysses, was serving a life sentence. It was reported at about 13:00 on Saturday afternoon that he had escaped.

After Oddysses' disappearance, a Ministry of Justice spokeswoman said: "The Justice Secretary has been clear that keeping the public safe is our priority and has ordered immediate and major changes to tighten up temporary release processes and open prison eligibility."
