Mandela's Granddaugther To Address Holyrood
Nelson Mandela's granddaughter Nandi Mandela is to address a public summit from 10 to 12 August at Holyrood to discuss how culture and the arts can foster international understanding, according to the Scottish Parliament.
The culture summit will take place at the same time as the Edinburgh International Festival and members of the public will have the opportunity to apply for tickets to four plenary sessions, which will take place in the debating chamber.
Tricia Marwick, Presiding Officer of the Parliament, said: "We are delighted to offer members of the public this rare opportunity to hear from eminent speakers, including Nandi Mandela, as they explore the power of culture on nations."
Emin's Unmade Bed To Fetch Up £1.2m In Auction
Tracey Emin's artwork 'My Bed' has been put up for sale by the collector Charles Saatchi and is expected to fetch up to £1.2m at auction.
The 1999 installation, which features empty vodka bottles, cigarette butts, used underwear and stained sheets, has divided critics since it was short-listed for the Turner Prize.
Mr Saatchi bought the work for £150,000 in 2000, but is cleaning out 50 of his largest installations and sculptures, including 'My Bed', which is estimated to sell for between £800,000 and £1.2m at Christies in London.
Saatchi offered to donate the best of his collection to the nation for free in 2010, with the installation among them, but he decided against it when the Arts Council said it wanted to pick and choose which pieces it would put on display.
Emma Watson Graduates From Brown University
British actor Emma Watson has earned her degree from the Ivy League Brown University in Rhode Island, despite having filmed a number of movies while studying.
She received her degree among another 2,000 graduates on Sunday and posted a selfie in cap and gown to Twitter.
The 24-year-old started at Brown in 2009, the same year she was named the highest-grossing actress of the decade by the Guinness Book of World Records.
She revealed earlier this year to The Sunday Times some of her fellow students were star-struck: "On the first day, I walked into the canteen and everyone went completely silent and turned around to look at me."
Watson managed to rack up film credits while hitting the books and in the period she released both ending parts of Harry Potter, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower and This Is The End, also starring in the more recent Noah.

The UK Film Council is to be abolished as part of cost-cutting measures announced by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt announced the decision as part of measures that would see 55 public bodies facing either mergers, streamlining or abolition, in a bid to save money.

The government is to begin consultation on proposals to ban smoking in most public places in England. The government hopes that the consultation will lead to a Bill being introduced in the autumn. The ‘Choosing Health’ Public Health White Paper published last November, unveiled proposals to ban smoking in all enclosed public spaces and workplaces.

A statue of former South African President Nelson Mandela has been unveiled in London's Parliament Square today. The unveiling of the bronze 9ft high statue was attended by Mr Mandela, his wife Graca Machel, Prime Minister Gordon Brown and London Mayor Ken Livingstone, among others.
