Fracking Protest At David Cameron's Home
Environmental campaigners have been holding a protest over new laws that could allow for more underground drilling at David Cameron's house in Oxfordshire.
Activists in hard hats and high-vis jackets sealed off the property's front gate with large security fencing with a big sign with the slogan: "We apologise for any inconvenience we may cause while we frack under your home" and a telephone number for complaints to be directed to Mr Cameron's office.
The infrastructure Bill to make fracking for gas easier is expected to be announced in the Queen's Speech later and will clear the way for fracking firms to drill and run shale gas pipelines under people's land and properties without their permission, according with the Greenpeace.
Greenpeace UK energy campaigner Simon Clydesdale said: "David Cameron wants to rob people of their right to stop fracking firms drilling under their homes, surely he won't mind if we kick off the under-house fracking revolution below his own garden."
A recent YouGov poll revealed that 75% of Britons oppose ministers' plans to strip people of their access rights so that fracking can go ahead, Greenpeace said.
